Surrender the Ego

The ego, in my experience, has been a source of angst and anxiety for me my entire life. Just when I feel like I am on top of the world, there is my ego questioning and instilling fear. It is constantly there to ask what about me? The ego ask you as you things like the following. Am I good enough? Do people like me enough? Do I have the right hair cut? Am I in good enough physical shape? Do I look fat? Am I too skinny? Do I have the best clothes, car, home, boat, Ipod, phone, or whatever the hot product is for the week?

There is never any amount of ego satisfaction that is sufficient. The ego just hungers for more. When you deny it, the ego instills the fear that we will not survive its impending death ultimately luring us back to a constant state of fear and separation form the self and others. This of course creates more anxiety and angst as the ego grows and dominates our lives.

It has been shown through scientific studies that fear creates brainwaves. Brain waves create our life, and what we attract into it. So if we are constantly in fear of something we are constantly attracting and creating that which we fear. This is an impossible catch 22 situation that only feeds the ego and stifles the spirit. This ultimately ends up placing us in constant reaction mode to all of the fearful things we bring into our world through the laws of attraction.

No Nonsense Approach:

So in order to release fear, we must be able to self soothe. Soothing of the self is key to our ultimate success as human beings. Looking to the outside world for what we need is foolish. We are everything and have everything we need in the moment. We are perfect right this second just as we are. There are no deficiencies in us as spiritual beings. The deficiencies are perceived by the ego and perpetuated by it. For example, why do people of different skin color have preconceived notions of what that differently colored person is ultimately going to do or be in life? It is the ego identifying something different than itself and protecting itself through instilling fear in you on an emotional level. Soothing of the self lets you reject these fears and tame your emotions. Being grateful for who you are and what you have in the moment is a great way to accomplish this soothing.
